Now, let’s start the review.
Firsts of all, I’ve ordered the iPad with the Apple Case. It seems to me to be the mandatory accessory and should have been included with every iPad. The iPad is great but can be slippery and you don’t want to drop something with that price tag !
It seems pretty light but after some time handholding it can be exhausting. I often use it on my laps (with the help of the case to have a better angle of view), on the table to write or watch movies/websites, so I rarely handhold it, or for the few times I rest it on my forearm.
1. The iPad
I won’t offend you and describe the iPad. You can find a better technical review here.
2. Accessories
After nearly a month, I bought another case, the logic3 case below. And it is really better than the iPad one. It is a lot thicker (hence protects more), and is much more classy (faux-leather instead of the Apple rubber). You can click on the picture to go to the manufacturer website.
I also added a pogo sketch stylus after wiping my screen every 5 minutes. I think it is a must have accessory.
The last accessory is one that I have built myself and is a car holder kit. With such a big screen and trapster and/or tomtom, it is perfect. I like to stroll in unknown parts of the city and with trapster on the iphone, you cannot really see what’s around. You can miss a park or some features on the small iphone screen. I will post a picture of this home made car kit (I’ve taken the suction cup from my former tomtom which Died In Action).
3. The Apps
The apps that really works on this iPad are :
3.1. Newsreaders
Feedler – A really goos RSS reader if you are an avid news consumer.
New York Times – A must have, if you like to know about what’s going on in the USA.
France 24 – This one is more for France and Internation matters, in several langages.
3.2. Games
Harbor HD – Really great game that can help you kill a lot of time.
Let’s Golf – Is an immersive games, with multiple achievements, not for real golfer though as you cannot do what you would do in the real world.![]()
3.3. GPS software
Tomtom – No need to introduce this wonderful app. The only downside is that it does not use the full resolution of the iPad.
Trapster – Interesting to check police controls, accidents, road works (and there’s a lot of them in Australia).
3.4. Books reader
iBooks, Stanza, Kindle – They are all pretty much the same to read a book, and would be a lot more useful when you can by recent electronic books in Australia.
3.5. Browser
Atom – Is a real desktop browser with multiple tabs that can load at the same time, not like safari who refresh a tab every time you switch back to it.
